Rome is one of our most popular destinations next to Paris or London during spring and autumn. Whether you are coming for some sightseeing or shopping or for one of the over 13,500 restaurants. Rome can offer you a wide range of entertainment possibilities and is even more of a pleasurable experience when traveling by private jet.
The Colosseum, the gigantic amphitheatre that could hold 65,000 spectators in Roman times, is the number one attraction in Rome. In the arena of the Colosseum gladiators fought against each other or against wild animals. In the enormous ruins of the Colosseum, you can visit the stands, the arena and the underground areas of this largest amphitheatre of ancient Rome.
Perhaps the most famous fountain in the world, but certainly the most famous in Rome, is the “Fontana di Trevi”, the Trevi Fountain. This 18th century baroque fountain in the Piazza di Trevi depicts the sea god Neptune riding his chariot towards the sea. A visit to Rome is not complete without throwing a coin into the Trevi Fountain, because the person throwing the coin will “one day return to Rome”.
One of the best preserved buildings of ancient Rome is the Pantheon. It is still not clear what purpose the building served at the time, but in 608 Emperor Hadrian donated the building to the Pope. Today’s church has a number of special tombs (painter Raphael and several Italian kings) as well as a strikingly large and also open dome (oculus).
St Peter’s Basilica, officially the “Basilica di San Pietro”, is the spiritual centre of the Catholic Church and the residence of the Pope. The great basilica in the sovereign state of Vatican City is located in the eponymous St. Peter’s Square and was built on the site where Peter’s tomb is believed to be. In St Peter’s Basilica you will find masterpieces such as the baldachin by Bernini and ‘La Pieta’ by Michelangelo, but you can also visit the crypt with 148 papal state tombs.
In the past centuries, the popes have built up a huge art collection that includes Roman objects, religious relics and numerous paintings. In the Vatican Museums you can get an idea of these art treasures of the Catholic Church in 54 lavishly decorated halls. The highlight for many visitors is undoubtedly the Sistine Chapel. The chapel with wonderful paintings by Michelangelo is especially famous for the conclaves where a new pope is elected.
At the foot of the French church “Trinità dei Monti” are the 135 steps of the Spanish Steps. The Spanish Steps take you to Piazza di Spagna, where you will see Bernini’s fancy fountain in the square.
The Hassler Roma, one of the city’s most famous hotels, welcomes you at the top of the Spanish Steps. From the hotel’s restaurant and fitness centre, you can enjoy panoramic views over the rooftops of Rome.
Sitting atop the Spanish Steps, Hotel de la Ville is a dynamic new hotel by renowned architect Tommaso Ziffer and designer Olga Polizzi. This 18th-century palazzo celebrates Rome’s rich tradition with a contemporary twist, while cosseting guests in 21st-century luxuries. Highlights include a world-class spa, with salt and steam rooms, and culinary experiences by chef Fulvio Pierangelini at Da Sistina bistro or the inner courtyard restaurant, Mosaico.
Rome’s first luxury hotel stays true to its cultural heritage, offering you luxurious accommodation in the historic centre of Rome. At the St. Regis Rome you stay just a few steps from Piazza della Repubblica and a short walk from Via Veneto.
Overlooking Piazza del Popolo, 50 metres away, Hotel De Russie is located on Via Del Babuino. It offers a peaceful garden, a gourmet restaurant and spacious, elegant rooms.
